Solicitor becomes NSW's first woman directly appointed a judge

Congratulations to Julie Ward who was sworn in today as a Supreme Court judge in NSW, the first woman to be directly appointed in NSW without first serving as a magistrate or district judge first.

Ms Ward was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and in 1988 was made the youngest ever partner of Mallesons.

She becomes one of just a few solicitors to have been directly appointed to the bench, an outstanding achievement and one worthy of our acknowledgement.
